Catching you up

Wow, it has been forever since we have updated the blog. Apologies to all of our loyal readers - good news, we don't write enough to have loyal readers! :)

Its been so long, I am not even sure where I left off... If you didn't know already, I got a job at the Fairmont Orchid, the same hotel as Greg. It wouldn't be normal if we didn't work together! I working in the Catering department as a catering coordinator. Which is actually the same position I left in Denver. It is crazy how the same position can be so different. Mainly because of the type of clients at each hotel. The Brown was full of business meetings and conference, where as the Fairmont is full of leisure incentive trips and vacationer. I'd almost say that the Brown was easier... Vacations get far more upset when something goes wrong, they are also at the hotel for a longer period of time so when it does go wrong you get to hear about it for awhile. Overall, I am having fun learning about Hawaii and the Fairmont company. I have meet some great people at work and am hoping to get to know them all better.

Kilauea - the volcano erupted recently, well, its been erupting for quite few years but it just had a new eruption. See this link for details and a video > http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/hvo/activity/kilaueastatus.php

We are hoping to drive the 2.5 hours to go see it soon! It is crazy to think that we live two hours away from an erupting volcano - Dont worry, it wont come to where we live.

Thats all for now, short and sweet! I will try to post more often!! (no promise).

It sure has been awhile...

Wow, I am officially the worst blog writer in the world! I am sorry for not keeping you all updated. Although luckily most of it is on facebook so I am sure you aren't totally out of the loop.

Greg is loving his new job, minus having to work overnights. The night manager quit so Greg gets the wonderful task of filling in. Its a little hard because he works all night and sleeps most of the day.

We have has a lot of fun exploring the island! We have found a lot of great places to take visitors (hint hint) :)

I am currently in Colorado. My grandmother passed away so my sister and I came out last week. She has already returned to VA but I am here another week. I plan on getting as much lined up as possible for the wedding since Greg and I wont be able to come back until June.

As far as my job search it wasn't going well until I got to CO... While here I got an email about a position at the Fairmont in Catering - similar to what I was doing at the Brown Palace. I have an interview the day I get back - Wish me luck :)

I promise to write more often!!!

Moved In

I am sorry for not writing for a week or so. It has been a little crazy. We checked out of the hotel on Saturday and moved into our condo. Of course we don't have any furniture so needless to say it was an easy move. We have made many a trip to Target for hangers though... Who knew I had so many clothes.... :)

Greg is settled into work and done with training. He really seems to enjoy it so far but I will let him log in and talk about it.

I am still job hunting, though living in the Resort by the beach made it difficult to hunt. Now, I am in full swing. I didn't know it was possible to be in Hawaii and want to work now... that I am not next to the beach :)... But I sure do. I think its mainly because we called to set up Internet and they cant come out until September 29th... Who takes that long to get Internet... Hawaii does. No TV, no internet, no job... How did they do it hundreds of years ago?! I am spending my time job hunting and furniture hunting. Our rental car is just a four door sedan so I cant get any of the big items right now but I am getting a feel for whats out there. We also just found out that my car is going to take a week longer than expected. Hopefully we will see it next Monday. I drove to Waimea today after dropping Greg off at work. Its about 35 minutes away from Waikoloa where we live but they have a few more options for stores. Mainly only local stores but the exploring part is fun.

I think I am getting adjusted. The hardest part is not knowing a soul... We went to a going away Party on Friday for Greg's boss and I must say that it was really nice to meet people and socialize with someone other than my own thoughts - and Greg when he is home ;). I figure since I have only been here less than two weeks I will give it more time. Overall I do like it though, the scenery is amazing and everyone seems to be very friendly! Its funny, we have run into a lot of people that like to give us advice and language lessons. (I sure need them, I cant pronounce anything).

Oh and - we are also now taking applications for visitors ;)

Signing off - Time to pick get ready to pick Greg up
